Randie S. Long

Randie Long represents veteran legal counsel with significant experience in specialty litigation with an extensive background in criminal law, entertainment law, environmental law, commercial matters, family law and select issues within immigration. He has been certified as an expert in common law in the Cuban International Arbitration Tribunal. He continues to study law and he has earned credit at the University of Havana Law School. He is also corporate legal counsel for Canadian firms doing business in Cuba. He continues to act for select clientele and he is actively engaged in the development of international legal services with a focus on Canadians and blended Cuban-Canadian families and clients in Cuba. He is a proud member of the Canada Cuba Luthier Solidarity Group as well as being a member and award winning recipient of Proyecto Guayabo the internationally known luthier and musical instrument collective located in Havana, Cuba. He was called to the bar in Ontario where he gained membership in the Law Society of Upper Canada and thereafter he earned membership in the Law Society of British Columbia. He has appeared at all levels of Court inclusive of the British Columbia Court of Appeal in civil, family and criminal matters. He continues to appear in other jurisdictions in Canada. He was a former federal prosecutor as well as a prosecutor for the office of Crown Counsel in British Columbia. His early focus was on human rights and labour law as a union organizer and union business manager before returning to law school and ultimately  relocating to Nanaimo to establish a legal practice. He is a graduate of the University of Toronto, Carleton University, and the University of Windsor earning degrees in all.

Randie has developed a growing international practice in Cuba having achieved delegate status since 2016 with the Organizacion Nacional de Bufetes Colectivos (ONBC) and working in support of Canadians in Cuba. He continues to represent Cuban and Canadian clients and families there relative to issues involving immigration, inheritance, human rights, as well as child and family matters.

As a musician, former radio station manager and on-air show host, Randie is versed in the areas of music law, entertainment law and artist representation, representing a number of writers, performers, artists and musicians in Canada, Cuba and internationally.
